What subjects do you mostly photograph? Do you have a different area that is your favorite? 🙂
I photograph pregnant moms, their beautiful newborns and then stick with them to photograph their baby’s first year and document the big milestones. Newborns are my meat and potatoes. I offer the other services because I feel like I need to in order to best serve my clients. They need and want those moments captured too and really they are all part of the “Having A New Baby Experience”. I chose to specialize in this niche, because working with babies and making moms comfortable is where I felt my talents lie and where I feel most comfortable.

I am so uncool, so Seniors were out of the question.

Weddings send shivers down my spine.

Family portraiture outdoors in Washington was wroth with too many uncontrollable variables for my taste because of our weather, and then there are always the less than eager Dad’s (I am guessing it isn’t just my hubby that rolls his eyes every time I talk about family pictures…wink, wink). I would love to photograph children, like really love it, but I don’t think it is fair to say, “I would love to photograph your 3 year old but I won’t do a family portrait.” To me photographing a person’s children is tied to photographing their family. Like maternity is tied to newborn photography.

Plus I really feel strongly about honing my craft and trying to be the best I can be. If I did everything, I wouldn’t ever sleep I would be working so hard at trying to be the best at everything.

If you could photograph something out of your ‘norm’, what would it be and why?
I would want to be like my friend Heather Larkin from Fairyography. https://www.facebook.com/Fairyography

She amazes me and makes me feel like a kid again. Every time one of her images pops up in my feed on facebook I squeal in delight, or sigh in awe. I find myself waiting on pins and needles to see what she creates next. Washington would be the perfect canvas for Fairy art. So in answer to your question it would be to embody her because I don’t have near the creative juices she does. I will put a note in with God that if reincarnation is real and I can’t come back as a cat (first choice) I want to be Heather.

Fun extra: if you could do anything you wanted, besides photographer, what would you do/be?
…if I could be ANYTHING I wanted besides a mom to four wonderful, beautiful children and a photographer (that is a pretty great gig) I would be a soloist Ballerina. Most of my childhood was spent idolizing Carla Fracci an Italian ballerina. I started out down that road. But by my first year of high school it was clear that my body wasn’t going to cooperate. So now I just go and watch with my daughters. I cry at the end of Swan Lake. It’s true, I’m a sap.

I can’t wait to visit my friend Jennifer again next month, and this time see inside her studio where all the magic happens!  Doesn’t hurt that I get to be a maternity model for her either, as she is hosting my other friend Briony’s maternity workshop!
